Losing Weight!

At the regional 1230 meeting at Christmas organised by Beverley Hamilton who runs 1230 Sevenoaks and East Grinstead I won a course with Weigh Out a company that specialises in body image and weightloss. I thought I could do with some of that!

I started shortly after Christmas with the first of four evenings at Harley Street. There CiCi Collins and Jules Mann, partners of Weigh Out, taught me how to tap. Tapping is based on similar principles to accupuncture – you tap on the same meridians and focus on what your needs are.

I concentrated on the weightloss. Since 2008 I have been enjoying a weekly early morning training session with trainer Dan Tiley and have gained energy and general fitness and over the last year lost about 7lbs.

However, although my fitness continues to improve my weight had settled down and I wanted to shift a bit more.

After only four weeks at Weigh Out I have lost just over 5lbs. I can’t believe it! There are no banned foods – you eat what you enjoy but the key is to listen to when your body is hungry and know when to stop.

There are no magic cures to losing weight but going along to Weigh Out has put me on the right track. My course has finished but CiCi and Jules are always willing to talk to me on the phone if I lose my Weigh!! And I will probably do a refresher day sometime later in the year.

So if you seriously want to get rid of those extra pounds I can highly recommend a short evening course in Harley Street or one of the weekend courses Weigh Out run down in Hove.

If you want to ask me questions just drop me a line.

All they spoke about was? but what else?

I heard it said recently about a meeting – “All they spoke about was their children going to university”. I mentioned this at the 1230 Bromley meeting to hear the thoughts of those attending. It generated quite a discussion, the conclusion being that all conversations need to start somewhere, and whilst the immediate sale can happen, the reason for attending 1230 meetings is to build sustainable relationships. Women can do this very easily and naturally and part of that can be about sharing some personal details, and yes, that could be about our children, but we are getting to know each other, and about our businesses.

Well done Clare on another great, productive meeting.

Maxine Lake of Beach Glamour said “Thanks for a great meeting today, I was so nervous but you and Clare made me feel at ease.”

Well done also to Louise Cardon of Keston Natural Health Practice who explained clearly why some stresses are good for us and others not so good; how and why we should manage these for better health. And after we’d closed our eyes and breathed deeply for 1 minute under Louise’s supervision, we all felt totally relaxed and energised in one, ready to continue with the meeting!

See you all soon!

Less is More

We had a special feature at our Sevenoaks Meeting yesterday,Image consultant Bridget Kelsey of Syntony Image gave us some helpful hints on creating an effective capsule wardrobe and managing our image on a budget

The way that we look has huge impact on the way other people see us and treat us, and on the way we see and feel about ourselves. As women, when we know we look good, it boosts our confidence, and that carries over to our business & our social lives. When we understand how to use colour, and how to choose design line, fabric texture and pattern, we can learn how to ‘wrap’ our body and bring out our own particular beauty. It’s fun, hugely rewarding, and long term, really helps us to use your clothing budget wisely.

Many thanks to Bridget for delivering such a brilliant talk and for kindly donating a prize for our business card draw

Bumper Attendance

A big thank you to all those who attended the Seveoaks meeting yesterday, our first one of the year and in our new venue.

A special thank you to Sharmila Mohile for all your help yesterday.

I am sure that the article that Angela Ward wrote for the Sevenoaks Chronicle drew more people in ~ thank you Angela.

I never ceased to be amazed at how women reinvent and diversify. Judith Hayton was a banker for many years and is now a plumber. Looking very elegant, at the end of the meeting she left telling me that she had a call to attend to and would be swapping her heels for steel capped boots ~ I had a vision of her entering a capsule, spinning around like Wonder Woman and emerging as Judith the Plumber!

Return to the Gym

I am usually a bit of an early bird when it comes to preparing for meetings. However, what members may not have been aware of yesterday was that preparing for yesterday’s meeting involved a trip to the Gym first thing. ……… the reason being that I have no heat or hot water at present and needed a shower!

Now I got to wondering is this the Universe’s way of getting me back there !

Who’s been sitting in my chair?

Well, actually Boris Johnson!

Let me explain. Brodies in Bromley (opposite Primark) has a very useful upstairs area for – not only enjoying their delicious fare – but also for meetings, with free WiFi and excellent service which kept us topped up with refreshments whilst we met with Melanie Reed, NatWest London today. Sarah Brannigan from Batchelors also arrived later and held her business meeting there too – so obviously, Brodies is the place to be. Anyway, back to Boris…. you may have glimpsed him on the news last night when he was at Bromley South Station, where he was promoting his fulfillment of his promise to bring in more policing at suburban railway stations. Apparently, he then walked through the High Street and enjoyed refreshments at Brodies

Watch this Space – for new 1230 CROYDON venu

Ring in the New

Yesterday’s East Grinstead meeting was a great way to start the 1230 TWC New Year.

Lovely to see so many ~ 17~ people and to welcome alongside regular attendees, new members and guests.

Thank you to Donna Still for your talk ~ Ditching The Scales and to Fiona Coppard who had some wonderful sale items on display. Both Donna and Fiona donated prizes for our business card draw, so we had a bumper event!

Some of us are in mourning on hearing the news that The Old Mill Manager, Tyson has moved on 🙁 ~ however, they have a great team there and I am sure we will be continue to be well looked after.

Well done to Lucy Turner (Lucy Locksmith) on winning the Bright Fm Top Trader 2008 award ~ can’t wait to hear the radio jingle!
