Ladies Charity Lunch – 17th October – Liphook, Hampshire
I am taking part in a Ladies Charity lunch in aid of GUTS (Guildford Undetected Tumor Screening) to take place at Old Thorns Golf and Country Club on 17th October from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.
There will be several local exhibitors including myself and a fashion show by Green-house. Lunch plus tea and coffee are included in the £20 ticket with £5 from each ticket sold going directly to GUTS. Please contact me for tickets or further info via email or 01420 538784
Energised in Wimbledon
Oh! Here goes, my first attempt to blog on the 1230 website …
I attended a brilliant 1230 lunch in Wimbledon earlier today, hosted by our divine Teresa (Leong) and a special guest, our very own Penny Denby. Piaf on the Hill, our meeting place, did a great job of the menu this month and I certainly enjoyed my (large) glass of rose wine and lamb tagine – I know I wasn’t the only one either!
For a recently-formed group, we had a great turnout with some truly inspirational women in attendance. There was a tremendous amount of positive energy swirling around the room which made for a party-like atmosphere, even during the nerve-wracking “1 minute” session with yours truly kicking the circle off, knees knocking in anticipation of tripping over my own tongue.
It’s so lovely to meet individuals who you really warm to and 1230 really is, in my opinion, a world-class act which is hard to follow. It must be the pink logo which attracts such wonderful women to these events and I left feeling energised and very happy to have spent a lunchtime expanding my circle of new-found friends and business contacts – and potential clients, for both my therapies and my Virtual Assistant business. Why is it that facial rejuvenation always attracts such huge amounts of attention?!!
Big thanks, as always, to Teresa who makes the Wimbledon meeting such good fun to attend … also thanks to Louise Olsson (of The Catapult Club) for bringing her “Fight Like A Girl” workshop to my attention (LOVE the concept!) and all the other sparkling ladies who made today’s event such a joy to be at: Danny Hay (Danny Hay & Consultants), Jini Reddy (journalist), Frances Clarke (FC Legal), Yvonne Mills (APS Legal & Associates), Wendy Powell (herself), Hansa Mistry (Excelsior Graphic Designers) and Denise Dale (Altogether You). I hope I haven’t missed anyone off

Firstly congratulations to Ronke Lawal of RSL Management Services Ltd who has won six months free membership of 1230 TWC. Ronke correctly guessed the venue of the 1230 Diamonds are Forever event on 26 September is The Gherkin. If you haven’t already booked your tickets for this fabulous event time is running out. Last Thursday I attended a very interesting meeting at 1230 Chislehurst. The speaker was Julie Quick of Heathside Centre for Health & Healing who gave a very interesting talk about women’s health. Judging by the number of questions being asked everyone else found the experience as interesting as I did.
Among those present were 1230 members Lee-Ann De Villiers who is the Director of Choice Home Care, a company that provides caring help that allows older people and disabled to remain independent in their own homes, Michelle Wharton, director of Capricorn Cleaning – domestic and office cleaning and Lauretta Wright who runs Cut to the Chase Speed Networking. Lauretta was looking for a talented web designer and she will be getting in touch with Carol Andrews, 1230 member who specialises in content management systems. Carol works with Rhian Wheeler, web designer and Co-manager of 1230 East Dulwich. There were lots of business referrals and information exchanges going on during the meeting which is managed by Jan Woollett whose business is helloWorld – the company that provides the video software that 1230 uses to welcome new members and broadcast training sessions to 1230 managers.
You will start to see a few banner advertisements on some of the 1230 website in the months to come. The advertisers have been chosen very carefully. The revenue we earn from referring site visitors to our advertisers’ businesses keeps 1230 membership fees as some of the lowest in the business networking sector. So do take a look at the goods and services on offer. Send us feedback if you use these companies and suggestions for new advertisers if you wish too.

Demonstration Evening
The Skin and Laser Clinic is holding its first demonstration evening on Tuesday 16th September from 6.30pm – 9pm.
There will be a demonstration from Nicole Albarelli, our semi-permanent make-up artist, spinal checks with Urshia Khan our chiropractor. Kelly Harding the clinics laser clinician will be on hand to answer any questions and our other therapists will also be available to assist you.
Light refreshments will be provided.

“There’s always so much to do, it’s impossible to find time for myself”; “I can’t switch off, there’s too much spinning around in my head!” Does this sound like you? For 1230 Woking members, this could be about to change! At our September meeting, Caroline from Shine is going to teach us to relax! We will learn and take away a list of quick and easy techniques that we can use in our daily lives.
September is also Bring a Girlfriend Month so any member bringing a guest on her first visit will have a FREE MEETING!

An Exciting Day!
Today was so worthwhile. Lucy Long and Amalia Brightley-Hodges today arrived at RBS/NatWest office building in Bromley fully prepared for their interviews and subsequent training as 1230 Managers. Lucy will be running a 1230 group in Gravesend and Amalia will be taking over the 1230 Mayfair group from current Manager Caroline Heward. Because of security within the building I’d arranged to meet them both outside Next store – by the time I got to them, and I wasn’t late! they’d sorted out that Lucy could give Amalia a lift back to her home in Dartford, how they could help each other with their respective meetings, and how they could help each other with their businesses!
Lunch had been arranged at a nearby hostelry – every drink we asked for was “off” the menu, disregarding the fact that a supermarket was less than 5 mins walk away. However, not to be thwarted, Lucy tactfully arranged with the Manager that we didn’t pay for any of the drinks we had ultimately and presented each of us with a voucher for a complementary dessert at the next visit! How we wished we’d ordered champagne!

By the Sea!
Yesterday I attended 1230 Hastings meeting in a fabulous new venue – Azur. Those attending included Liza Richards of Bright who brilliantly headed the meeting, Tess Warren of FAT (yet to find out why that business name!) web design, Carol Barfoot of Gibbons Mannington, Madeleine Murray of Pestalozzi, Jennifer Beaumont-Whyte of Beyond Boundaries and of course MD of Azur, Alison McQueen-Luzar.
Suffice to say that the 1230 meeting was brilliant – well done Liza, the company was brilliant – great to meet you all and look forward to many more occasions and the venue was stunning. Apart from not needing to have sea legs the view was if we were on an ocean liner, and the facilities, well you’d need to see it yourself.
Also this week I attended the hugely successful inaugural meeting of 1230 Dartford – well done Paula Pomeroy on your choice of venue, the beautiful setting of the Dartford Golf Club, and of course the excellent lively meeting.
Last week, and apologies for being a bit tardy on letting you know about this, but as you can tell 1230 is pretty busy! I attended 1230 King’s Hill – new venue and new 1230 Managers Karen Wilkinson and Mandy Shepherd who had done a brilliant job on finding the new venue – Thai Moom. Again, a great meeting.
Also last week saw me at 1230 Mayfair listening intently to Jane Keynon of Well Heeled Divas. Another fantastic 1230 meeting brilliantly headed by Caroline Heward.
Hastings…. I have to confess to not rushing back to the office…. and enjoyed some sun and sea before heading back.
Congratulations 1230 Managers and I look forward to meeting up with everyone again soon!
