RISKS - 1230 TWC

1230 TWC - the most exciting place to be!

RISKS

After attending the brilliant 1230 Conference 17th March, and listening to the great speakers talking about taking risks in setting up a business, I felt inspired to share with you all a poem that finally made me decide to leave teaching after 35 years and set up my business. I never thought that I would be able to do this so late in my working career. I have been successful and am loving every minute of what I do. It has been a huge learning experience and I am still learning.

The poem is called RISKS and is by Leo F Buscaglia.

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken
because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love …. live.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave: he has forfeited freedom.

Only a person who risks is free.
