Such a Treat!

to meet up with 1230 TWC Harpenden attendees today. Pretty, interesting venue and great food. A Big Thank You

A big thank you to all those who made the East Grinstead Meeting such a success today. Lots of great networking taking place. It is lovely to see month by month how member’s businesses are growing and how people are finding ways to diversify in these times of change.

A big thank you to Elizabeth Shepherd, who gave a very informative talk on her work in the field of Dyslexia. She kindly donated a raffle prize of a book about this work.

A big thank you also to Fiona Coppard for the beautiful bouquet of flowers that she gave me today. Many of you will know, that today was the last meeting I will be chairing in East Grinstead, so this is a very emotional time for me.

I set up the group in October 2007 and it has been such a pleasure to run. I am passionate about networking have gained so much confidence from running the group. I am sure it will go on to flourish and wish it and it’s members every success in the future

Warm welcome at Woking

This is more than a little embarrassing … I have been so snowed under since a delightful meeting at 1230 Woking two weeks ago, that I’ve not yet had a chance to share my thoughts with you all.

(I hasten to add that I’ve been on holiday in the middle of all that, soaking up balmy rays in North Cornwall of all places!)

So, first of all – a heartfelt thank-you to the ladies at the 1230 Woking meeting in May for making me feel so very welcome. Of course, a very big thank you to Fiona Syrett, 1230 Manager, who kindly invited me along to speak at their meeting on the subject of Twitter.

With these kinds of subjects, it is always difficult to follow any kind of notes. You just go with the flow. What a flow it was, many interesting questions popping up from all around the room – and just as many to go away with, of course! It was very exciting to be in a room filled with enthusiastic business-women, keen to try something new which may potentially open them up to a whole new world. Thank you all so much for being so open to new ideas!

I was also delighted to announce at the 1230 Woking meeting the new dates for “Tweet Me Gently” workshops, with the special 1230 member price of £25. The next one is being held this Wednesday morning in Wimbledon – we have a couple of spaces left as I type (please see Events).

I left the 1230 Woking meeting with a warm glow inside of me, delighted to have met new contacts who I am sure I will be doing business with in the very near future.

1230 meeting on Thursday at Chislehurst Golf Club

I am really looking forward to meeting you at this Thursday’s meeting in Chislehurst. Most of you would have heard of ISA, Pension etc; but do you know the advantageous and disadvantageous associated with them? Do you know the rules under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme? I shall be giving a brief talk on these; do come along with an open mind, meet new friends and learn from each other. See you there at 1230.

Healthy Product Choices

If you can relate to having problem skin, even if it’s just a persistent patch of dryness, you may want to learn a little more about product ingredients. Take it from someone who has pretty much suffered with every skin condition under the sun, and whose bathroom at one time resembled a cosmetic graveyard. After years of throwing money away trying a plethora of products from the health food store, dermatologist and department store alike, I finally took the time to further educate myself, and the discoveries I made proved quite interesting. Sticking with products that are botanically based, PH correct, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested are a good start. Things that I have learned to avoid in products include mineral oil and other petroleum derivatives (cheap fillers), animal products, animal by products, chemical dyes and chemical fragrances. For our babies & children, it is worthwhile to note that many of the “no more tears” products out there contain an analgesic to numb the babies eyes so they do not feel the sting of the product getting into their eye. Lastly, every single person I have spoken with who has a beautiful, flawless complexion always drinks plenty of water. My skin has never looked or felt better.

Sevenoaks Business Links

A big thank you to all those who attended the Sevenoaks Meeting today and made it a great success.

We were fortunate in having Jennifer Swain from Business Link Kent as a guest speaker.

Jennifer gave a very informative talk on the work undertaken by Business Link and the services they provide. We are fortunate in Kent to have the opportunity to attend FREE Business Link Workshops ~ a saving of £350.

Jennifer gave us an overview of how Business Link can nurture businesses from conception, sustain focus and vision so they can grow.

It was lovely to see so many regular attendees and also some new faces. Linda Larter MBE ~ Chief Executive of Sevenoaks Town Council, was there and discussed her role with The Council and her secondment to Stag Community Arts Centre.

It was also lovely to have Angela Ward from The Sevenoaks Chronicle there as a member/attendee and to cover the event.

It is always heartening to see how members’ business are developing from month to month and to see new enterprises emerging.

Maidstone Launch

After a huge attendance last week at Kings Hill, we are set for a great launch of the new Maidstone TWC this Wednesday. We have a great speaker, a launch cake, the press will be there, as will Jackie and Penny and we are thrilled with the venue which is The Pippin, on the London Road in Maidstone. It does great food, the atmosphere is lovely and we have the conservatory to ourselves.We are expecting over 30 attendees so far! See you there!

Pain? What pain!

A couple of months ago I finally plucked up the courage to go to see a surgeon about my varicose vein and then decided to go for EVLT, a laser treatment to close the valve at the top of the saphenous vein.

I had the treatment on Tuesday. I opted for local anaesthesia as I didn’t think the procedure sounded particularly invasive or traumatic. I’m glad I did. Although I needed quite a few injections it was nowhere near as bad as dental anaesthics.

The surgeon recommended Voltarol and Codydramol post opertively, neither of which I am keen on so I gratefully declined.

Unfortunately I had an allergic reation to the sticky bandage they strapped my leg with so after 24 hours had to remove it. This I did with trepidation as the surgeon had warned me my leg would be most painful at this point. Not so!

I took 2 lots of ordinary 500mg paracetamol during the first 24 hours post surgery and have taken none since. I believe this is due to the lack of painkillers I normally take and that I have taken nearly half a bottle of Arnica 30c before and after the op. I have also given myself Reiki and have no doubt that my Reiki fellowship have also been sending me Reiki.

I am delighted. I have some quite spectatcular bruises but they are not painful. I am wearing a compression stocking, just to encourage the blood flow up my leg away from the treated vein.

I wanted to share this as so many people are terrified of procedures and consequent pain. Your body can certainly cope with plenty, especially if your mind is in the right place. Complementary medicines definitely have a part to play.
