Known by many as the original voice behind the Northern Soul classic “Tainted Love”, Gloria’s music career has taken her across continents and genres, establishing her as one of the most influential figures in soul and pop history.

A Trailblazer in Music and Culture

Gloria’s musical journey began early, performing in church choirs in Cincinnati and later recording with Motown Records in Los Angeles. As a songwriter and performer, she contributed to some of the biggest sounds of the 60s and 70s, including collaborations with artists such as Marc Bolan of T. Rex, with whom she shared both a musical and personal partnership.

Her influence on the British glam rock scene is still celebrated today, with her distinctive vocals and songwriting ability helping shape an era. But it’s Gloria’s continued commitment to nurturing talent and creating opportunity that truly sets her apart.

The Marc Bolan School of Music – A Gift to the Future

One of Gloria’s most meaningful contributions is the founding of the Marc Bolan School of Music in Makeni, Sierra Leone. Named in honour of her late partner, this project is close to her heart. The school provides music education, instruments, and a safe creative space for young people in a country where such resources are often scarce.
