Everyone has an opportunity at every meeting to deliver a one-minute talk. Please note, one-minute talks are timed so as not to devalue the meeting’s 10-minute talks (Take10 – see below).
If the meeting is seated, the 1230 TWC Host will at some point ask everyone to change places to maximise networking opportunities.
What are the 1230 TWC Meeting times?
Each 1230 TWC Meeting takes place on the same day each month, starting at 12.30 pm (with the exception of Twilight with a 5.00 pm start) and finishing between 2.00 – 2.30 pm. Our venues are always flexible for everyone to continue networking after this time if they wish. Meeting dates and times are posted on the 1230 TWC website.
Do I need to book in advance to attend a 1230 TWC Meeting or can I just turn up?
Although you are welcome at all 1230 TWC Meetings if you find yourself unexpectedly free at the last minute, you really should book in and pay in advance because the 1230 TWC Host running the group needs to book space and refreshments with the venue.
What is Take10?
At each meeting one 1230 TWC Member has the opportunity to make an extended presentation. Take10 is a 10 minute talk on the subject of the Member’s choice. You can use this opportunity to tell others in more detail about your expertise or you might want to use the chance to brainstorm ideas or seek good advice from others present.
This is not a sales pitch – it’s a great opportunity only open to 1230 TWC Members and is arranged in advance in conjunction with the local 1230 TWC Host.
Can I display my company brochure or products at meetings?
Yes. Up to two 1230 TWC Members can do this at a meeting. Book ahead with the local 1230 TWC Host. This offer is only open to 1230 TWC Members.
Why do I need to join 1230 TWC to attend meetings?
Because 1230 TWC is a members’ organisation providing a wealth of Member-only benefits. Non-members may attend any two 1230 TWC Meetings before deciding to join. They pay more than the 1230 TWC Member meeting price.
What if I join and then I don’t manage to get to 1230 TWC Meetings?
You will be missing a great opportunity to build an excellent business support network. There is no doubt that networking provides everyone with a way to build contacts, many of whom will become good and trusted contacts. These contacts will only recommend you and your business when they get to know you, understand your business and know what you are seeking. This does not happen overnight and requires regular attendance at meetings so that other 1230 TWC Members get to know you. If you’re not visible, nobody will know about you.
Why don’t you restrict 1230 TWC Meetings to only one woman from each business type?
Having more than one member at a 1230 TWC Meeting running similar businesses is, we believe and find, a positive experience. Members can share their business experience and help each other. We have a number of success stories where 1230 TWC Members are now working together, sharing premises and collaborating.
What does my 1230 TWC Meeting fee pay for?
The 1230 TWC Meeting price for Members is for attending the 1230 TWC Meeting. It covers the organisation and management costs of running the meeting and the business support and networking provided. It is important to understand that you are not paying for the meal; you are paying for the opportunity to attend the 1230 TWC Meeting.
So the food is the same at all 1230 TWC Meetings?
No. Food will vary depending on the 1230 TWC Meeting location. The menus and charges of hotels, restaurants and venues vary hugely. 1230 TWC HO is the main point of contact with our venues. Remember, the 1230 TWC Meeting charge is not simply for food. It is for the business opportunity. However, our aim is always to provide the best 1230 TWC Meeting experience possible and that includes refreshments. Food is provided at a convenient time during 1230 TWC Meetings. At some meetings food will be served as a buffet, at others it will be a seated meal.
I have special dietary requirements. Will there be something for me to eat?
Provided you book in with 1230 TWC in good time and let us know what your requirements are we will be able to arrange something suitable.
What if there isn’t a 1230 TWC Meeting in my area?
If there isn’t a 1230 Meeting close to where you live or work then you might like to consider starting one. Currently all our 1230 TWC Hosts run their own businesses or work in businesses where they need to build contacts, or just want to give support to other business women. just email us
If I don’t run my own business can I be a 1230 TWC Host?
1230 TWC Hosts are key people in the success of the organisation. We are happy to talk to any woman who is interested in helping others build their business support network. You don’t have to be working at the moment and you might want to consider 1230 TWC as a business opportunity for yourself. You would need to have some business experience, have access to the internet and email and be a confident mixer.
Can I talk to a 1230 TWC Host before I decide to apply?
Of course! We do encourage you to do this, and to attend at least two different 1230 TWC Meetings before you apply. If you decide to run a group, we encourage 1230 TWC Hosts of neighbouring groups to come along regularly to support your meetings, and we recommend that you do the same.

So how does 1230 TWC earn money?
1230 TWC income is currently raised from the membership fees. Membership fees cover salaries, training and incentives, travelling costs, website, marketing, communications and postal charges.
Does 1230 TWC run any other events?
Yes. 1230 TWC runs a business conference each year. This event is for all business women, 1230 Members and non-members, and includes excellent speakers, lively and informative workshops and there is always a panel of inspirational business women to meet.
1230 TWC organises occasional charity events.
1230 TWC training company 1230 Business School runs training sessions in topics invaluable to all business people.
What is ‘invite a girlfriend’ month?
In September women friends and relatives can be invited as non-members to 1230 Meetings. This way both you and 1230 TWC increase our networks and our opportunities.

Whilst 1230 The Women’s Company happily partners with other networking organisations (of both genders) to mutual benefit, we don’t believe it is beneficial for Members to head alternative networking groups of a similar nature perceived to be in competition with 1230 The Women’s Company. At the discretion of 1230 TWC we will either refuse membership, or may terminate membership.
Gentlemen are always warmly welcomed to attend 1230 TWC meetings.
